About Phyllis
Phyllis Bridges is a native of High Point, NC, but for the last 8 years has made Jamestown her home. She is a small business owner, a local historian, advocate, and cultural visionary who has worked tirelessly to preserve the rich African American history of High Point. She currently serves as the Chair of Jamestown Park & Rec. Serving the community and giving back to the community is nothing new to Phyllis and she looks forward to doing more in the Town of Jamestown.
Why I'm running for Jamestown City Council
Since 2012 I have been a major stakeholder in Jamestown/High Point with connecting our community by listening and fostering better support for our citizens. I'm super excited and eager to be running for City Council because we need more than talks and conversation and more actionable solutions that benefit our people and our youth.
I'm not backed by big money. My purpose as a Councilwoman is more meaningful and valuable. It's about the real people who believe in preserving the integrity of what's been built, the families with young children who want to see greater for the future and about the small businesses that keep our town growing together.

Candidate, Phyllis Bridges
Voice For The People
Leadership: I've seen the unspoken walk away without a voice because there's no belief in support for change. I've seen how the challenges with getting your voice out as a citizen of Jamestown makes it complicated for growth and development opportunities especially, for small businesses. Action Plans with solutions bring confidence for all involved.
Visionary: As a long term citizen living in Jamestown, I firmly believe that our town is stronger when our community is heard, considered and valued. I am a true advocate believing we are stronger together and we are the people to help keep our town moving. Not just a person in the seat, but a voice of true change in action for the people. Making Moves & Crossing Bridges for the Town of Jamestown NC.

Advancing Eco-Nomic
As the Jamestown P&R committee chair leader and community connector, I believe it is important for the Town of Jamestown to continue to improve upon advancing walkability for our parks, trails and roadways between City Lake Park and the Town Center. Keeping our town vibrant with more outside activities to help US as a community stay connected.
Visionary: As a citizen living in Jamestown, I firmly believe that our Town of Jamestown is stronger when our businesses and community can all grow and make moves for a greater economy together. Keeping our local folks in mind. Real efforts + Actionable Solutions = Successful Movement!

As City Councilwoman I'll work together to create real mentorship programs for the youth and young adults by investing in support systems with AI technology and literary arts programs that will give them access and opportunity.
I've seen the growth, expansion and inclusion, making it very optimistic to the endless opportunities for our youth and young adults. Our future is dependent on the true promises of job opportunities, higher education and programs that will be beneficial to long term success.
